PORT MANSFIELD - Augustine Albert Monjaras, 66, died Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at his home in Port Mansfield. He was born June 25, 1941 in San Antonio to Augustine and Frances (Gonzales) Monjaras.

He graduated from Sam Houston High in San Antonio. He then served eight years in the Navy on a nuclear submarine, moved back to San Antonio and ran the ice house store for five years, found Port Mansfield and moved there in 1971, became a a commercial fisherman, then a charter captain.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita "Nita" Monjaras of Port Mansfield; two sons, Bryan (Yvonne) Monjaras of Mercedes and Troy Monjaras of Port Mansfield; one daughter, Debbie Steussy of Harlingen; one sister, Lydia Dillard of San Antonio; one brother, Richard Monjaras of Ohio. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
