      Shawn Nolan Gutierrez was born on October 23, 2007 at Harlingen VBMC. He weighed 20 1/ 2 in. and was 9 lbs. and 11.1 ozs. Proud mother is Jennifer Lee Martinez. Baby Shawn was welcomed home by big brother, Stephen Michael Gutierrez, Grandma Maria Alicia Martinez and Grandpa Bobby Ramon.

     SALESIAN SISTER SPURS FANS MAKE NATIONAL NEWS - The NBA heard that the Sisters supported the San Antonio Spurs, NBA Championship basketball team and invited four of the Sisters as VIP guests for game one of the finals on June 7. The sisters were also featured on Univision and Good Morning America. Shown is Sr. Angelita Guzman, originally of Raymondville, and San Antonio Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovich. Sr. Angelita has served 67 years and is semi-retired. She entered the convent at the age of 13. She is the aunt of Minerva Garza, wife of Tutti Garza, of Raymondville.

     LOUISE KING was honored at a birthday celebration on Wednesday, October 31, at Casa Blanca Restaurant. The 9 a.m. birthday breakfast was attended by approximately 40 friends. Miss King grew up in East Texas, near the small community of Douglas, and is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches. She arrived in Raymondville in 1946 to become the Home Demonstration Agent in Willacy County. The birthday event was hosted by Rebecca and F.G. Page of Las Vegas, NV, former Raymondville residents. Her actual birthday in Nov. 7, when she will welcome her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Sullivan of Dallas and her brother, Rev. Bobby King of Douglas, to celebrate her special day.
