Lyford CISD hosted the 10th Annual "Knowledge Is Power" Community-Wide Health Fair on Wednesday, Oct. 31. This year Superintendent Eduardo Infante presented ten-year "Shining Star Health Fair Partner" awards to Su Clinica Familiar-Raymondville, Texas Department of State Health Services-Harlingen, and Willacy County EMS for their continued annual support of the health fair.

Presenters from Willacy County and throughout the valley provided information on disease prevention, dental hygiene, nutrition, mental health, safety, and many other topics. Elementary, middle school, and high school students visited presenter booths and had the opportunity to ask the presenters questions. The health fair featured a "Know Your Food Groups" area. Local businesses hosting a food group booth included Gonzalez Fruit Stand (fruits and vegetables), Lyford CISD Food Services (bread and cereals), H-E-B (dairy) and Wal- Mart (protein). Nutritional infor- mation and samples of the food groups were provided to guests. HE B Buddy also made a surprise visit and socialized with students.
