Arraignment of vice president and others reset for Friday morning in Raymondville
     The infamous Texas Rangers were ordered by Presiding District Judge J. Manuel Banales to find AWOL lameduck District Attorney Juan Angel "Johnny" Guerra on Wednesday afternoon, after he failed to show for a criminal hearing for Vice President Dick Cheney's and former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales's pre-arraignment hearing in Raymondville.

     Lameduck District Attorney Juan Angel "Johnny" Guerra got a Willacy County grand jury to indict U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney and former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales on an alleged charge of engaging in organized criminal activity, in the 2001 beating death of an inmate by two fellow inmates who used socks laden with padlocks.

Renowned former Port Mansfield lawman dies in his beloved port city
Jack Carpenter started career as drug enforcement agent
     After patrolling the quaint fishing village of Port Mansfield for about 20 years, retired Willacy County Deputy Sheriff Jack "El Lobo" Carpenter died on Sunday of natural causes. He retired from the county in the late 1990s, according to Sheriff Larry Spence.
