Chronicle to begin charging for obituaries & social news
With great reluctance we are forced to change our policies and to begin charging for things that the daily newspapers have charged for over many years. This change in our policy has been made necessary because of the poor economy and declining business conditions.
Effective next week (January 7, 2009) the Chronicle/News will charge a minimum of $50 for obituary notices of up to 10 col. inches. Longer obituaries will be charged at $5 per col. inch, the church rate. There will be no additional charge for obituary photos. Charges for obituaries can be paid at the time they are submitted, or they can be billed to the funeral home that is handling the services.
Obituary notices will no longer be edited at the newspaper and those submitting the information are free to include whatever they deem necessary.
Death notices with funeral arrangement information will published at no charge without photos, or detailed information.
Engagement and Quincenara photos will be charged at the rate of $35 and the photos will run in a two col. format (4 inches x 7 inches)with cutline included.
Cash, checks or major credit cards will be accepted in payment of these services.
Thank you for your understanding, please call 956-689-2421 for additional information.
