Local gambling arcade raided by Cameron County special operations group
Slot machines and cash seized by authorities

     In their second raid in as many years, the Cameron County District Attorney's Office Special Operations Group hit the Cashway Grocery located on U.S. Bus. 77 in Raymondville on Friday. The grocery store's backroom has been operating as a gambling arcade for several years.

Local house destroyed as firefighters fought to save surrounding homes

      A mobile home in south Raymondville near U.S. Hwy 77 burned to the ground Monday afternoon as firefighters worked quickly to contain the fire, and keep it from spreading. Lifelong resident Rachel Cruz lost her home and everything in it.

Marine who raped & burned a fellow Marine may have passed through the valley
He reportedly picked up money in Premont

      A U.S. Marine Corps corporal who allegedly raped a pregnant fellow Marine, and then reportedly burned her to death, was reportedly seen in Premont over the weekend, and is presumably heading towards Mexico. Cpl. Cesar Armando Laurean, 21, of Camp Lejune, N.C.
