The Willacy County Regional Detention Facility recently sent three female employees to Des Moines, Iowa to the National Women in Corrections Conference. Deputy Warden Vilma Cervantes, Sgt. Debra Rodriguez, and Officer Ludevina Mendez attended the conference from October 26-29, 2008. The conference is held every two years and hosted by a different state.

Today, Management & Training Corporation (MTC) supports the growth and empowerment of women in corrections throughout their contracted facilities. At the Willacy County Regional Detention Facility, one fourth (1/4) of the staff are women.

Pictured above are women in corrections who hold positions from clerical, correctional officer, Assistant Shift Supervisors, to the Deputy Warden.

The women are actively raising money to attend to the Women in Criminal Justice conference to be held in April in San Antonio, Texas.
