Ammerman's staff complete with addition of asst. county attorney & criminal investigator
County & District Attorney Bernard Ammerman won approval at county court Monday for two new people in his office, the first is Scott Greenbaum an asst. county attorney from Cameron County. Ammerman said that Greenbaum "is a very good prosecutor and is very experienced," having worked in Del Rio and in Brownsville.
"I have worked with him, we tried a murder case together, and we work good together," said Ammerman.
Greenbaum will be paid $72,000 plus car allowance and he will also prosecute child welfare cases which have been handled by the state in the past.
Hired by Ammerman as his investigator is Oscar Rivera, Jr., a former Raymondville police officer. He began work two weeks ago and will earn a salary of $42,000 plus car allowance.
"They are mad at me in Cameron County because I stole both these guys from the District Attorney's office," said Ammerman. Commissioners approved his hire of both.
Ammerman reported that he has completed classes regarding public information and the open meetings act required of all new county attorneys.
The new county attorney also reported that his dept. will be using a Ford Focus seized in a drug case for trips to meetings and for training, on government business. Commissioners approved a county gas card to be used for this purpose.
Finally, the D.A.'s office got approval of a contract with Archer Business Service for an office copier at the rate of $138.00 monthly.
