Letter to the Editor
Dr. Spence says he wouldn't know Kittleberger if he saw him
First, I wouldn't know Mr. Kittleberger if he walked through the door of my clinic, an occurrence that, thank goodness, isn't likely to happen. I'm pleased he found a local physician with whom he feels comfortable. Sounds like a classic win/win to me. I quite understand now that he doesn't like me nor respect anything about me on a personal or professional basis, and I'm more than OK with that. Next, I take issue with the headline last week for this column which stated "Kittleberger blasts Dr. Spence's letter." Actually, he simply chose to "blast" and denigrate me with his poorly conceived ad hominem attack. This tactic is straight from the handbook of Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals", a tome and author that Obama and the Clintons championed in their early formative years. When a committed radical isn't able to cogently counter a point of view or message with a reasonable and well thought out response, he simply attacks and slimes the messenger in an attempt to silence him or her through intimidation and fear. It's the same approach that the slugs and thugs of moveon.org ilk, anonymous foaming at the mouth Internet bloggers, and many left wingers in the main stream media took with Sarah Palm when she threatened their world view. I'm not delusionally comparing our Willacy County politics and discussions with national presidential campaigns, but I do find the similar approach vis a' vis "attack the messenger" somewhat compelling and instructional for your readers. I came to the conclusion several years ago that my self worth and esteem aren't based on how others, friends or foes, feel about me. I also discovered, after serving several years on our local school board, that there are some members of our community who don't like anything about me, and I'm comfortable with that. In fact, and this might be a personal flaw, I experience a degree of satisfaction and empowerment when certain local yokels disagree with me on just about any issue, large or small. I add the heretofore unbeknownst to me, straight out of left field, Mr. Kittleberger, to that list. In a delicious twist of irony, a Canadian/European model nationalized medicine program that Obama and his socialists henchmen in the Congress favor and will soon attempt to shove down our throats, was instrumental in Mr. Kittleberger meeting his local family doctor of choice. Physicians by the thousands have fled Canada and other countries where this disastrous socialized medicine model is in place to come to the United States to ply their trade in a free market environment. If Obama and his minions have their way, they will undermine and ultimately destroy the world's best and most envied medical system. Lovely. These political missives are meant to stimulate an effort towards establishing a healthy local two party system where a viable Republican Party can participate in the various elections of our city and county politicos. I'm not interested in any future mean spirited tete a' tete, if you will, with Mr. Kittleberger or any others of his malevolent mindset. These musings are meant to inform some, foment changes in the voting habits of certain open minded individuals, and to simply amuse others with a bit of silliness to my message. Towards that end, I once again invoke the voice and style of Jeff Foxworthy ..... If you believe it's in the best interest of the United States of America to allow the United Nations to determine the direction of our international relationships and responses, then you are a naive and dangerous liberal Democrat. If you think that the ACLU, the United Nations, Acorn, the great majority of the left winged environmentalist groups, Al Gore's Church of Global Warming Wackos, and the nationalization of our economic institutions all have the best interests of your children's futures at heart, then you are a true believer hopelessly entrenched Obamatron socialist Democrat. If you are pleased that Obama denigrates and blames the United States for many of the world's ills when he goes abroad as our Commander in Chief and CEO, then you are part of the legion of Blame America First Democrats. If you didn't want to throw up when you witnessed Obama bowing down to the King of Saudi Arabia in a deferential gesture to this Godless tyrant, America hating, Islamist radical Jihadists harboring, shameful waste of human debris, then you must be a hopelessly hard core liberal Democrat. If you're comfortable with Obama and a few of his Harvard elite bureaucrats seizing control of General Motors (GM now stands for Government Motors), then you're a Fidel Castro/Hugo Chavez hugging Marxist Democrat. Vamanos' Obamanos! That felt good. Again I want to state unequivocally that none of my poison-tipped bullet points are aimed at any of our local officials or our friend and ally, Senator Eddie Luclo, and our new advocate and fellow Longhorn, Representative Tara Rios Ybarra. It's the national Democrats and Democrat Party that I mock and detest.
A quick update. Bonnie Brown, Willacy County Republican Party Chairman, has been in contact with State Party officials and is developing a plan that will help us launch a viable Willacy County Republican Party effort. We're determined to make this grassroots effort a reality. |
