With an afternoon view of the Texas Hill Country and in the presence of family and friends, Miss Cynthia Nelinda Bernal and Mr. Edward Joseph Rodriguez, both of San Antonio, were united in the sacrament of holy matrimony at St. Anthony Claret Catholic Church on Saturday, February 21, 2009, with Fr. Jan Klak officiating. Liturgy readers were Miss Maddie Cruz, bride's niece, Mrs. Allison Bernal Leach, bride's cousin, both of Kingwood; and Mr. Jorge Rodriguez, groom's uncle of San Antonio. The Eucharistic gifts were presented by Mrs. Rita Bernal of Lyford, Mrs. Amelia J. Rodriguez of Sebastian, and Mrs. Beatrice Rodriguez of San Antonio, grandmothers of the couple. The bride's entrance was announced by piano and violin sounds of Pachebel's Canon in D. Presented in marriage by her father, the bride wore an Oleg Cassini strapless slim A-line gown with horizontal satin band detail and lace appliqués with pearls and rhinestones. A princess tiara of pearls and rhinestones complemented the tiered cathedral length train with pencil edging and rhinestones. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of twelve red roses embellished with rhinestones. Matron of Honor was Celinda Rae Foster, bride's sister of Canton, Oklahoma and Maid of Honor was Christina Leann Bemal, bride's sister of San Antonio. Best Man was Gilbert Rodriguez, III, groom's brother of San Antonio. Bridesmaids included Lorie Bernal, Stacie Bernal, Amanda Cruz, and Jenica Rodriguez, bride's cousins of Houston, Kingwood and San Antonio; Barbara Rodriguez, groom's sister, Laurie Vasquez, groom's cousin, Arlene Arevalo, Deborah Hinojosa and Candice O'Campo, all of San Antonio. Lady-in-Waiting was Alyssa Bustamante, bride's niece of Kingwood. Groomsmen were Carlos Rodriguez, groom's brother-in-law, Rey Aranda, Rudy Arevalo, Billy Castro, Josh Chapa, Ernie Flores, Raul Hemandez and DJ Rodriguez, all of San Antonio. Ushers were Hector Bernal, Jr., bride's cousin of Spring and John David Vasquez, groom's cousin of San Antonio. Flower girls were Aliyah Bustamante, bride's niece of Kingwood and Caitlyn Rodriguez, groom's niece of San Antonio. Train-bearer was Kaitlyn Bernal, bride's niece of Spring. The bride and groom chose to observe the Hispanic tradition of Padrinos (Sponsors) and included Mr. and Mrs. Rick Rodriguez, bride's aunt and uncle, arras; Mrs. Linda Elliot, groom's aunt, bible and rosary; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Rodriguez, groom's aunt and uncle, unity candle, all of San Antonio and Mr. & Mrs. Sergio Bustamante, bride's cousins of Kingwood, lazo. Following the ceremony, the bride and groom were transported to the reception in a 1953 Rolls Royce Bentley. The reception was held at Scottish Rite Library and Museum in San Antonio. A wine and hord'oeuvres cocktail hour with mariachi music preceded the formal dinner and dance. At the end of the festivities, a horse drawn carriage awaited the bride and groom. An afterparty was hosted by the groom's parents in their home. The bride's mother hosted the bridesmaid luncheon at Maggiano's Little Italy in San Antonio. On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner at El Chaparral in Helotes. Following a honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas, the newlyweds have returned to their San Antonio home and dogs, Delilah and Lily. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Elijio and Bibiana Bernal of Lyford and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert and Yolanda Rodriguez of San Antonio.
