IMAGENE "JEAN" KING
Jean was born August 13, 1926 to Clarence and Tommie Fitch in Raymondville. Jean attended Raymondville schools and in 1944 married Claude B. King. Raymondville was home to Jean for 73 years when she moved to Plano, TX in 1999 to live with her daughter, Marcell Archer.
Jean passed away June 25, 2009 in Plano with Marcell at her side. She can be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Jean was a housewife and part time employee for HEB food store. Her 23 years with HEB brought many friends into her life as she served the public. Jean was also a member and officer for the Raymondville Fire Department Women's Auxiliary and the American Legion. She was an honorary member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church Altar Society.
Jean is survived by her three children, Marcell (John) Archer of Plano, TX; Jerry (Diana) King of Austin; and Tommy King of San Antonio. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, John and Justin Archer, Melissa King Cudd, Melanie King, Tommy King, Jr., Jason King, and Lori King Yandle. Eight grandchildren also blessed Jean's family. Brother, Louis Fitch of Raymondville and sister, Letha Burns of La Grange are Jean's only surviving siblings. In addition, Jean is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Those who preceded Jean are her husband, Claude King; parents, Clarence and Tommie Fitch; brothers, Hubert, J.P., Leroy, James, Raymond and Lester Fitch; and sister, Inez Clark.
A rosary was recited Sunday, June 28 with a funeral mass celebrated at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Monday, June 29. Interment followed at Raymondville Memorial Cemetery. Jean requested that memorials and donations be made to the St. Anthony Catholic Church Altar Society in her memory.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Duddlesten Funeral Home.
