SANTA MONICA - Liboria M. Garcia, longtime 81-year-old Santa Monica resident, passed away early Friday, July 3, 2009 at the Retama Manor Nursing Home in Raymondville, TX.

Liboria was born on September 7, 1927 in the El Sauz Ranch to Modesto Garcia and Maria Muniz Garcia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers: Pilar, Manuel, Domingo, Florentino and Rosario. Her four sisters: Emilia, Lucinda, Mary and Billie also precede her in death.

Survivors include a special niece, Frances Garcia and her family: Kalina Tostado, Estevan Tostado and Wally Tostado, Jr., all of Sebastian, TX; several nieces, nephews and friends also survive her.

Viewing was held at the Hernandez Funeral Home Friday, July 3, 2009 from 6 through 9 p.m. with Eva Caballero reciting the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. And resumed at the Santa Monica Catholic Church on Saturday, July 4, 2009 at 8 a.m. until a 9 a.m. funeral mass celebrated with Father Rafael Vega. Interment followed at La Jarita Cemetery in Santa Monica, TX.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hernandez Funeral Home in Raymondville.
