Caring for elderly relatives theme of meetings
"At some time or other, every adult will have to deal with older relatives in declining health who need some support and assistance from others," begins the Bible Study text "Parenting Your Parents," by Dorothy Gager. The book will be the primary resource for a Bible study to help caregivers; the study begins Wednesday July 22 at 5:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Raymondville.
The first session is designed as a get-acquainted meeting, and will introduce the study materials to participants. There is no charge for the study.
"We invite anyone who is caring for a parent or even a spouse or a child with health care issues and concerns," says Rev. Janna Hawes. "I know that there are folks who are caregivers, and I hope that we can all learn, and be encouraging to one another."
The 6-part study includes chapters titled: "Why Is This So hard?"; "My Parents As They Were;" "My Parents As They Are;" "My Parents As They Will Be;" "Giving And Receiving Help;" and "If It Takes a Village To Raise A Child;"
