Maria H. Cortinas, 101, passed away July 21, 2009 at her home in Raymondville. A rosary was recited Thursday, July 23, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral mass was celebrated July 24 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment followed at Norias Cemetery in Norias.

She is survived by her six daughters: Lucia C. Carrion (Rene) of Port Lavaca, TX, Lydia C. Adame (Leon) of Immokalee, FL, Leonor C. Guzman of Gonzalez, CA (deceased- Higinio), Gloria Salas (Moises) of Corpus Christi, Dolores Lopez (Joe) of Raymondville and Cleotilde Smith (Pancho) of Marland, TX; two sons, Leonel Cortinas (Lulu) and George Cortinas (Anita) both of Raymondville. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
