How hot was it?...103 in the shade...

When I was driving back to Raymondville from Kerrville Sunday afternoon it was so hot that corn in a field we were passing began to pop. The noise from the popping corn was so loud that I ran my car off the highway because I thought someone was shooting at us.

When I finally got the car back on the highway I noticed that the asphalt on the highway was melting and turning into big puddles at the bottom of the hills.

We stopped in a roadside park and I saw a little red hen laying boiled eggs.

It was so hot we had a picnic and roasted our hot dogs and marshmallows without starting a fire.

It was so hot that the iced tea in my thermos kept bubbling over. It was so-hot that Al Gore was standing in the shade selling popsicles and copies of his book.

It was so hot that the Winter Texans say they won't be back until January.

And it was so hot that Mitch Thomas opened a barbecue take out stand on the Expressway next to his ranch. He was spraying the cows with barbecue sauce and sending them out in the sun for 20 minutes, 30 minutes for customers who like their meat well done.

THAT'S HOW HOT IT WAS!
