RUTH THOMPSON DURIVAGE

LYFORD - Ruth Thompson Durivage, 94, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at her home in Lyford, TX. Ruth was born April 6, 1915 to Fulton and Lena Thompson in Troup, TX. While living there she met and married A.C. (Pat) Durivage on December 24, 1934. The next year they moved to the Rio Grande Valley where they farmed for over 55 years.

Ruth was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She is survived by her sister, Hope Roach, son, Charles M. Durivage (Sharon), grandchildren Rusty Smith (Debbie), Michelle D. Williams (Tracey), Darryl (Sue) and Michael (Charlotte) Durivage, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by Cookie Cantu, a long time friend and companion whom she considered a member of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fulton and Lena Thompson, husband, A.C. (Pat) Durivage, daughter, Juanita D. Smith, sisters, Coella Calicutt and Cecil Sattlerwhite, brother, Reagan Thompson and grandsons, Randy and Ricky Smith.

The family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to Tommy Cisneros, Stolia Chavarria and to the people of Odyssey Heath Care and United Home Health for their loving care and support.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, August 25, at the First Baptist Church in Lyford, where she was a long time member. Interment followed at the Raymondville Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, Rusty Smith, Darryl and Michael Durivage, Charlie Keyes and nephews, Butch and Tim Roach.
