New Stripes Convenience Store will open in early 2010
      City commissioners heard from two executives with the Stripes Convenience Store chain at last night's meeting. Raul Hernandez is district manager of the chain. He expects that the new store at the old Texaco site south of McDonalds will do $1.5 million annually in taxable sales.

Grand Jury indicts 23 people on felony Charge
      The Willacy County Grand Jury returned felony indictm-ents against 23 defendants Tuesday afternoon, ranging from burglary to indecency with a child and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. A local woman who allegedly stole almost $20,000 from an elderly Raymondville couple has been indicted by the grand jury for theft, and for fraudulent use of identifying information.

Bearkats commence District 32-3A play
      Concluding their nondistrict campaign with a 2-1 record, Raymondville High School's varsity football team opens up District 32-3A competition when they visit Progreso at 7:30 p.m. this Friday. With a bye last week, Head Coach Alex Leal and his staff hit the road to scout La Feria whom the Bearkats play on October 2.

Ramon Rafael "Bubba" Burciaga is wanted in connection withe burglary of a coin operated vending machine at Pena Tire Company on West Hidalgo ave. The breakin occured on Friday night shortly after Burciaga was bonded out of Willacy County Jail on other burglary charges. More...
