JESUS "JESSE" FLORES, JR.
ABILENE - Jesus "Jesse" Flores, Jr., 63, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2009 in Abilene. Funeral mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church, 2525 Westview with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation was from 6 to 7 p.m. with prayer service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Flores was born on December 2, 1945 in Mission, Texas and came to Abilene with his family in 1961. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and has been a truck driver all his life. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was known to be a little ornery at times. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved cheering for his grandchildren at all of their sporting events.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Juanita Perez Flores of Abilene; three sons, Jesse Flores III (Carolyn), Jaime Flores (Marissa) and Jose Luis "Joey" Flores (Brandi) all of Abilene; three sisters, Beatrice Santana of Abilene, Estella Lopez of Bolingbrook, IL and Juanita Valenzuela (Manuel) of Abilene; two sisters-in-law, Lucille Santana and Juanita Santana of Corpus Christi; 14 grandchildren, Sara, Samantha, Jamie, Jaimito, Joseph, Joey Flores, Jr., Andrew, Angel, A.J., Jordan, Isaiah, Boo, Candi and Gabby and numerous nephews and nieces.
His parents, and 4 brothers, George, Felix and Gregorio Santana and Richard Flores preceded him death.
Honored to serve as pallbearers were: Buddy Fitch, Manuel Valenzuela, George Santana, Jr., Joe Martinez, George Santana, III, and Pete Santana.
