Car chase ends in Lyford with the arrest of Edinburg suspect
      Hidalgo County Sheriff's deputies chased a suspect Tuesday afternoon from Edinburg through Hargill at high speeds and into Willacy County where the driver lost control of his pickup and overturned on FM 1921 between Exp. 77 and Bus. Hwy. 77.

      Amy Nicole Guerrero, 21, of Sebastian and and Samantha Jane Cardenas Rainwater, 19, of Raymondville died Friday night after their gray Mazda Protege' was broadsided by a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup at the intersection of East Grimes Road and Loop 499 in Harlingen at 11:30 p.m.

LYFORD SOLDIERS OFF TO WAR IN IRAQ
      FAREWELL CEREMONY- About 500 Rio Grande Valley National Guardsmen were deployed to Iraq. Among the group were 10 Willacy County Guardsmen. The Willacy County and District Attorney¿s Office announced today that on October 1, 2009, Oscar Rojelio Herrera, Jr., 32, of Austin, TX, pled guilty in the 197th District Court to visiting Judge Martha Huerta and was sentenced to 10 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division for possession of methamphetamine.
