Herrera sentenced to 10 years in prison for meth possession
The Willacy County and District Attorney¿s Office announced today that on October 1, 2009, Oscar Rojelio Herrera, Jr., 32, of Austin, TX, pled guilty in the 197th District Court to visiting Judge Martha Huerta and was sentenced to 10 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division for possession of methamphetamine. The Defendant was indicted on March 19, 2009 for possession of a controlled substance. Herrera was sentenced for a December 23, 2007, traffic stop heading toward Austin when over four pounds of methamphetamine was found in the vehicle.
The Willacy County and District Attorney's Office will aggressively prosecute crimes involving narcotics and would like to thank the Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Orlando Olivares for his participation with this case. The cases were prosecuted by District Attorney Bernard W. Ammerman and First Assistant District Attorney Scott Greenbaum.
