Samantha Jane Cardenas Rainwater, 19, passed away Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, in Harlingen, Tx. Samantha was born on August 27, 1990 in San Marcos, Tx to Rebecca Salinas and Pete Guadalupe Cardenas.

She is survived by mother/stepfather, Rebecca and Troy Rainwater, Raymondville and father, Pete G. Cardenas, step-brother, Pete "Meagen" Chaney, San Marcos, maternal grandmother, Rebecca L. Salinas, Raymondville and paternal grandparents, Ed and Catherine Bowersock, Austin, Tx. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Steve Salinas.

Samantha was a Raymondville School 2009 graduate. She was homecoming queen, was active as student yearbook editor, student council, was drum major, played clarinet and soccer, and was studying to be a child pyschologist.

A rosary was recited Monday, Oct. 5, at Duddlesten Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass was celebrated Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church at 2 p.m.

Pallbearers were Steve Salinas, Jr., Rene Flores, Omar Cavazos, Dominic Salinas, Rene Salinas, Jonathon Salinas, and Buddy Wetegrove.
