Suspect charged with aggravated robbery and assault at Walmart

Valente Garza Valente Garza Police matched a victim's description with a photo from the Texas driver's license photo registry to clear an aggravated robbery and assault case at the local Walmart.

Valente Garza is the suspect who police say walked into Walmart and tried to steal some batteries. When approached by a store employee at 2:25 p.m. Monday. Garza exhibited a box cutter and threatened the store clerk and was confronted by another employee on his way out of the store. Police say he also showed the weapon and threatened the second employee before fleeing.

Store employees watched Garza and got a description and the license number of the car he was driving and reported the matter to police. Detective investigator Andres Maldonado, Jr., said that the victims were able to identify Garza's photo from a lineup police showed them.

The suspect was arrested Monday evening and is being charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and assault.
