"Thank you for your trust and support," Chapa says
Editor,
All good things come to an end, and some of the best things that have happened to me in my life was my marriage to my wife, Chris, the birth of my sons, Eddie Jr., and Max Sr., my daughters, Yolie and Becky, my five grandchildren, Epiphany Leah, Max Jr., Trey, Briana, and Elliana. An honorable military career of twenty-six years, and finally a successful career with my new extended family the public servants employed by Willacy County. It has been a sincere pleasure to serve the people of Willacy County as your Veterans Service Officer, Civil Defense Director, Home Land Security Advisor, and finally as one of your County Commissioners.
As I stated at the beginning, all good things come to an end, unfortunately, due to recent health set backs from my years in Viet Nam, which I am recovering from very well, I will not seek re-election for an other term as one of your County Commissioners. I want to thank those who have stood with me as we tried to do the best we could to enhance the quality of life for our constituents. And now after forty-four years of public service it's time to say good-bye. My term as Commissioner ends December 31, 2010, and with God's help, I hope to make it our best year yet. Once again I want to thank the people of Willacy County for your support and understanding with some of my shortcomings. Especially, the people of Precinct #2, and the professional and outstanding work of Road & Bridge #2, foreman, Gilbert, his team, Ramiro, Jimmy and Joe. May God Bless You, and May God Bless the United States of America.
Eddie R. Chapa
County Commissioner
