TERESA SALINAS SAENZ

On Monday, December 21, 2009 the roll was called up yonder and Mom’s name was called to go home at the age of 95. The end was peaceful and no doubt the beginning glorious. The family is grateful for prayers shared, prayers offered silently and the many messages of love and support.

Teresa Salinas Saenz was born on October 15, 1914 in Blessing and a blessing is truly what she was to all. She was a former member of Corpus Christi Cathedral and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Victoria, Texas. Teresa was an ACTS sister. She was a dedicated educator having taught first in Rio Hondo and then in Lyford for a total of 40 years. She enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening and giving to others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Valentin and Candelaria Salinas; her husband of 60 years, Adan L. Saenz; and three brothers, Hilario (Lalo) Salinas, Robert Salinas and Tom (Chicano) Salinas.

She is survived by her three sisters, Anita Esparza of Brownsville, Frances Acebo of Austin and Alicia (Dr. Antonio) Perez of Corpus Christi; children, Chic (Connie) Saenz and Sam (Karen) Saenz of Katy and Carmen (Dennis) Lockstedt of Victoria.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23, with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 24, at Corpus Christi Cathedral.

Pallbearers will be as follows: Paul Saenz, Lou Saenz, Zach Fiew, Dennis Lockstedt, David Watson, and James Messa. Honorary pallbearers are all the angels and saints and Dad that were sent to take Mom home.

In lieu of flowers donation may be made to Hospice of South Texas, Habitat for Humanity or donor’s choice.
