LA MARQUE, TX - Higinio G. Cantu 85, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at Mainland Medical Center. He was born on March 4, 1924 in Mercedes, TX to Sabas Cantu Sr. and Francisca Garcia Cantu. Higinio served in the Army during the Korean War and he was a member of Queen of Peace. He was involved with Little League Baseball and worked for the Texas City Terminal Railway for over 20 years. He was a resident of La Marque, TX since 1964 and was formerly of LaSara, TX.

Higinio is preceded in death by his parents; son Ramiro Cantu; two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Maria L. Cantu; sons Jorge Cantu (Bonnie), Higinio (JR) Cantu Jr. (Angela); four grandsons, two granddaughters; and two great granddaughters and one great grandson.

His visitation will be on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque, TX and his funeral service will be on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in La Marque, TX with Father Chacko Puthymail officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson, TX.
