Mountain lions kill sheep, cows on Navajo reservation

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say as many as three mountain lions have killed three sheep and three cows from two Navajo families in a remote area of the reservation.

The Tuba City Incident Command Post has received reports of mountain lions in the Preston Mesa/Tonalea area, located about 16 miles northwest of Tuba City.

Reports indicate that in addition to the sheep and cattle kills, one horse also was attacked.

According to Coconino County officials, two different families have seen the mountain lions and they believe there are three male lions roaming and hunting the area.
