A 15-year-old girl tried to hang herself at noon on Feb. 7, according to police investigator David Robles.
Robles said the girl was having problems at home and told her mother that she was going to hang herself at one of the old sheds on North Sixth Street.
When officer Daniel Duron arrived on the scene he saw the girl standing on an elevated platform with a rope around her neck. As he attempted to talk her down from her perch, the girl jumped off the platform but the rope was too long and she hit the ground.
Officer Duron used his pocket knife to cut the rope and the EMS took the teen to Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen where we was to be evaluated.
