CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - An eastern Illinois man died in a snowmobiling accident during this week’s winter storm.

The Coles County sheriff’s office says Kelly Bales of Mattoon died Tuesday after his snowmobile turned over in a corn field near Humbolt. The community is about 45 miles south of Champaign.

Illinois State Police say the snow remains a problem for drivers across central Illinois. It stopped falling early Wednesday but is being whipped across roads by gusty winds.

State police say they've handled more than 200 accidents since Tuesday in east-central Illinois alone.

The National Weather Service expects winds to keep blowing snow through Wednesday night. Gusts of about 20 mph are expected.
