Kenedy County judge race contested

The incumbent Kenedy County Judge, J.A. Garcia is not running for re-election and there are four candidates who want to take his place.

In the Democratic Party primary election Louis E. "Bud" Turcotte III, Enemorio "Nito" Serna and Chuck Burns will battle each other for the party nomination.

And in the Republican Party primary election Mitch Thomas is the sole candidate for county judge.

So, this is one election that will not be settled until the general election in November.

Another hot local race is the contest between the incumbent State Representative Tara Rios Ybarra of South Padre Island and J.M. Lozano the challenger from Kingsville.

Both are Democrats and there are no Republican candidates for this position.

State District Judge J. Manuel Banales is running unopposed for District Judge, 105th Judicial District but he will have a Republican opponent in November, that being Angelica Hernandez.

In another contested local race Democrat Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace, Joseph "Joey" Andrew Acevedo and Jana B. Norell are the contestants.

E1ection Day in both the Democrat and Republican primaries is March 2, 2010.
