Kenedy County Democrats go for Bud Turcotte III for county judge

Kenedy County may have more cows than voters but that doesn't mean they don't turn out at election time.

Tuesday Democrats gave 127 votes (58.80%) to Louis E. "Bud" Turcotte III for county judge. Enemorio "Nito" Serna had 49 votes and Church Burns trailed with 40 votes. There were 216 votes cast in the race.

Meanwhile, Republicans cast 10 votes for Mitch Thomas who will meet Turcotte in the general election come November.

For County Commissioner, Pct. 1 Joe Recio beat Michael W. "Mike" Norrell with 37 votes to 22 votes in the Democrat primary.

County Commissioner Pct. 2, Roberto "Bobby" Salazar got 42 votes to 32 votes for Rale Vela, also a Democrat.

There are no Republicans in the commissioners race.

In the only other local contested race, Jana B. Norrell got 32 votes to 26 votes for Joseph "Joey" Andrew Acevedo, for Justice of the Peace, Pct. 1.

All of the Republicans nonbinding ballot propositions passed.
