Willacy Republicans give support to Rick Perry

A total of 99 votes were cast by Willacy County Republ-icans Tuesday in their primary election.

For governor Rick Perry got 60 votes, Kay Bailey Hutchison got 23 votes and Debra Medina got 15 votes.

William Willie Vaden got 28 votes in his race against three other candidates.

Most of the other races only had one candidate but in the Railroad Commissioner race David Porter got 71 votes to Victor G. Carrillo who had 19.

Rick Green was the choice of local Republicans in the Justice Supreme County, Place 3 race.

In Place 9 Rose Vela had 52 votes to 30 votes for Eva Guzman.

There were five non binding resolutions on the ballot and 91 percent of the voters want a voter identification card for all voters.

94 percent favor controlling government growth.

95 percent favor cutting federal income taxes.

97 percent favor acknowledgement of God in schools and 71 percent favor showing a sonogram to all women who are planning to have a non-emergency abortion.
