SEBASTIAN - Sandra “Sandy” Cavazos Salinas, 48, entered into eternal rest at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen on Saturday, March 6, 2010.

Sandy was born on January 25, 1962 to Santana and Natalia Cantu Cavazos. Sandy was a loving wife, mother, sister and aunt. Sandy was blessed by our Lord to have enjoyed her short life to the fullest alongside her family. Sandy’s biggest pride and joy was her family and she will be remembered as “Queen of her Home” by family and friends.

Sandy is survived by her loving husband of 21 years, Judge Juan Salinas, Jr., daughter, Brittany Marie Salinas, and sons, Ramiro Perez and Lee Martin Salinas. She is also survived by her brother, Daniel Cavazos, Sr., and multiple nieces and nephews.

Sandy is preceded in death by her parents, Santana and Natalia Cantu Cavazos and her brother, Martin Cavazos.

Viewing was held Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the Hernandez Funeral Home Chapel with the family receiving friends and relatives from 3 to 9 p.m. A prayer service conducted by Pastor Pepe Cervantes of Lifeline Heart of Worship of Harlingen was held that evening at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation resumed Monday, March 8, 2010 at 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at which time Sandy was taken to St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Sebastian for the continuation of the visitation as well as a Holy Rosary recited at 7 p m. Visitation resumed Wednesday, March 9, 2010 at Hernandez Funeral Home at 8 a.m. until depature for 10 a.m. funeral mass that was celebrated at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Sebastian. Interment followed at Guadalupe Cemetery in Sebastian.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Daniel Cavazos, Jr., Eddie Cantu, Api Cortez, Rudy Oviedo, Juan Jose Salinas, Martin Juarez, Juan Rodriguez, and Tony Torres. Honorary pallbearers were her brother, Daniel Cavazos, Sr. and her nephew, David Baltazar Salinas.

Arrangements were under the direction of Hernandez Funeral Home in Raymondville.
