SUSANNA KOTZUR KRNAVEK
Susanna Kotzur Krnavek, 94, of Lyford, TX, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 8, 2010.
She was born February 28, 1916 in Cestohowa, Karnes Co, TX to the late Urban and Frances Kotzur. At the age of 10, she moved with her family to Hidalgo County, where they established a new Polish community in McCook. On September 26, 1939 she married Isidore Krnavek at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Mission. They moved to the Lyford area in June 1950, where he was employed by the Texas Highway Department until retirement in January of 1979. Susie worked at the Lyford School Cafeteria for 10 years, retiring in 1980.
She was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church Altar Society for many years. She was also a member of St. Ann’s Fraternal the K.J.Z.T. of Texas. While retired, she was busy caring for her flowers and making quilts, which were numerous, making special ones for each of her six children. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Walters of Corsicana, TX, Rose Mary (Doug) Chalkley of Toney, AL and Frances Krnavek of Lyford; sons, Isidore (Donna) Krnavek of Barry, TX, Raymond (Lynn) Krnavek of Mustang, OK, James Krnavek of Italy, TX; 10 grandchildren and numerous greatgrandchildren.
A special thanks to Marcy Guzman and Dr. Todd Shenkenberg for their loving care of Mom for many years.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on March 11, 2010 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Lyford. Funeral services will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 11 a.m. with interment at the Lyford Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Duddlesten Funeral Home.
