LYFORD - Juan F. Tabares, 86, longtime Lyford resident passed away early Friday, March 12, 2010 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, TX.

Juan was born in Hidalgo, Tamaulipas, Mexico on August 21, 1923 to Aurelio Tabares and Francisca Villafuerte Tabares, who have preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Carmen Tabares, two sons: Jose and wife Alison Tabares of Blanchard, OK and Juan Tabares, Jr. of Dallas, TX, two brothers: Aurelio Tabares, Jr. and Jorge Tabares and a sister, Elisa Tabares. He leaves behind three grandchildren to cherish fond memories of their grandpa.

Viewing was held at the Hernandez Funeral Home chapel on Monday, March 15, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 that evening. The funeral mass was celebrated with Father Rafael Vega at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Lyford on Tuesday, March 16 at 10 a.m. Interment followed at the Evergreen Cemetery in Lyford.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Hernandez Funeral Home in Raymondville.
