Local district attorney promoted to Lieutenant Colonel

On Saturday, March 13th in San Antonio, a ceremony was held to promote a local resident in the United States Army Reserve. John T. Hubert, a Civil Affairs Officer in the United States Army Reserve, was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in that same branch effective as of January 30, 2010.
“Only about a third of my immediate family could make the ceremony,” said Lieutenant Colonel Hubert, “but I still think they were surprised to see over 30 people in the VIP section.” LTC Hubert is currently serving as the Assistant Operations Officer and Rule of Law expert for the 321st Civil Affairs Brigade in San Antonio, Texas and will continue to serve. Hubert is also a locally elected public official, holding the job of District Attorney for Kleberg & Kenedy Counties.
LTC Hubert holds three advanced degrees; a Juris Doctorate from St. Mary’s Law School, a Master’s of Science in Urban & Regional Planning from Texas A&M College Station and a Bachelor’s of Science, also from Texas A&M. His former awards include the Bronze Star (with Oak Leaf Cluster), Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (with Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal (with two stars), Armed Forces Reserve Medal (with M and hourglass devices), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal Southwest Asia Service Medal (with three Bronze Stars), Saudi Arabia Defense Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Reserve Overseas Training Ribbon and the Parachutist Badge. He served with units awarded the Valorous Unit Award (2-67 AR Bn), Meritorious Unit Award (451st CA Bn), and Superior Unit Award (CAPOC).
