Teen fined $3,000 for her role in Myra Green Vandalism

Jaymee Lynn Moreno, 17, of Raymondville pled guilty in 197th State District Court Tuesday to vandalizing the new Myra Green Middle School and the Bearkat football stadium by spray painting graffiti on the walls.
The vandals caused $25,000 in damage to the school buildings and three of the four who caused the damage are girls.
Moreno spent a month in county jail and was fined $3,000 by Judge Migdalia Lopez. She was sentenced to serve five years probation for the offense and she must make full restitution. Moreno must also serve 300 hours of Community service and pay courts costs and probation fees.
The defendant was indicted on February 18, 2010 for graffiti. Punishment ranges for the offense are from probation to a 2-year State jail sentence and an optional fine of up to $10,000.
The case was prosecuted by Willacy County and District Attorney Bernard Ammerman and First Assistant District Attorney Scott Greenbaum under the new standardized sentencing policy .requiring stiffer penalties for adult and juvenile graffiti offenders.
