ON MARCH 5, 2010, JOE RAY MARTIN
fulfilled a lifelong dream to proudly serve his country and was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Navy Reserves at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. After a year long selection process and many interviews, he was selected for a direct commission by a board of Navy Officers. Joe Ray was commissioned by Rear Admiral (Ret.) John W. Towns, III, who is Senior Vice President of Military Affairs at United Services Automobile Association (USAA), where Joe Ray is a Government Relations Manager.
Joe Ray is a graduate of Lyford High School class of 1988. He received his undergraduate degree in business administration with a minor in economics from Our Lady of the Lake University and a masters in International Relations and Security Policy from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX.
He is the son of Ray and Tommie Martin of Sebastian, TX and now resides in San Antonio with his wife, Jenny and daughter, Elizabeth.
