PEDRO CASTANEDA
RAYMONDVILLE - Pedro Castaneda, Sr., 84, of Raymondville, accepted his calling to love and serve the Lord with our heavenly father on April 3, 2010. He was surrounded by his loving family. “Pete” truly believed that our Savior is the way, the truth and the life. Now he walks the streets of gold with our Heavenly Father.
He was born on February 23, 1926 in Mercedes, TX, son of the late Genaro Castaneda and Tomasita (Cano) Castaneda.
He loved to spend his days with his seven kids, 22 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was gentle, full of wisdom, strong and true, with a heart of gold that loved and gave so sure and long. He proudly served his country when called during WWII and the Korean conflict in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Bertha R. Castaneda of Raymondville; four daughters, Diana (Arturo) Cardenas, Delma (Jorge) Rodriguez, Diamantina (Edward) Zavala, Debbie (Joe) Pedraza, three sons, Rene (Theresa) Castaneda, Tomas (Alice) Castaneda, Pedro (Ludivina) Castaneda, Jr., one brother, Eloy Castaneda, four sisters, Delia Uribe, Diola Uribe, Dora Garcia and Delva Ybarra.
A rosary was recited at 7 p m., Monday, April 5, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Raymondville, TX. Funeral mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 2 p m. Interment followed at the Raymondville Memorial Cemetery with his loving grandchildren as pallbearers. The family requests that memorials may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in his memory. Funeral services under the direction of Duddlesten Funeral Home.
