Search for confederate soldiers graves in Willacy Co.

The RGV Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy is compiling a list of Confederate graves in the four county area. This is a statewide project, (and part of a national project). Texas has recorded over 2500 Confederate graves, but only two from the four Valley counties.

Do you know of a Confederate grave in Willacy County that should get on that list? Do you have a relative buried here that fought in the Civil War or know of such a grave? If they are in unmarked graves you can get a Government issued headstone for the soldier, (they have been forgiven). Fran lsbell is the President of the Palo Alto Chapter of United Daughters of the Confederacy, (don't write to me, I know the Battle of Palo Alto had nothing to do with the Civil War). Mrs. Isbell said it would be corrected in the future so it would not get mixed up with the other war.

You can give the information to me and I will send it to Mrs. Isbell. Glenn Harding, P0 Box 366, Raymondville, Texas 78580 and 689-2706.
