Villegas sentenced for graffiti vandalism at new Middle school

Raven Symone Villegas Raven Symone Villegas The Willacy County and District Attorney’s Office announced today that Raven Symone Villegas, 18, of Raymondville, was found guilty in the 197th District Court and was sentenced to the maximum probation term of 5 years for graffiti on the Myra Green Middle School and Burnett Football Stadium. Villegas must also pay restitution in the amount $25,000.00 to repair the area that she damaged. As a condition of her probation she was also sentenced to 30 days in jail and given a $3,000.00 fine. She must also complete 300 hours of community service and pay court costs along with other standard conditions of probation. The defendant was prosecuted under the new standardized sentencing policy requiring stiffer penalties for adult and juvenile graffiti offenders.

The Defendant was indicted on February 18, 2010 for graffiti. The punishment range for graffiti ranges from probation to confinement for 2 years in a State Jail and an optional fine not to exceed $10,000.

The Willacy County and District Attorney’s Office will aggressively prosecute crimes involving graffiti and would like to thank the Raymondville I.S.D. Superintendant Johnny Pineda and Police Chief Lauro Gutierrez for their participation on this case.

The case was prosecuted by Willacy County and District Attorney Bernard W. Ammerman and Assistant District Attorney Scott Greenbaum.
