Fire Destroys Boat
FISHERMAN LOSES BOAT TO FIRE - Sheriff's Deputy G. Avendano was called out to a boat fire in Willamar, on FM1420 and County Road 2100 Friday. When he arrived he saw a boat engulfed in flames. Bobby Crisp, a fisherman from Brownsville, told the deputy that he had been seining for bait in a ditch when he noticed that his boat was on fire. While he was trying to put the fire out, the gas tank exploded throwing him to the ground. Crisp suffered burns to his face and arms and was taken to Valley Baptist Medical Center, Harlingen, for treatment. The San Perlita Volunteer Fire Dept. extinguished the blaze but the boat was destroyed.
