Early morning SWAT strike sends 4 defendants to county jail on drug/gun charges

Early on the morning of June 3 a helicopter hovered over the homes of two suspects in Raymondville.

A joint raid by the Department of Public Safety, the San Juan SWAT Team and Raymondville THP was going down. Assisting them was San Antonio DPS Aircraft and Brownsville and McAllen CID Agents.

Arrested at 523 1/2 West Durham were Alfredo Esparza, 30, and Jessica Ann Cantu, 25. They were charged with the possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) and delivery.

Arrested at 959 W. Chihuahua were Juan Antonio Alfaro, 38, and Jesus Gonzalez, 40. Seized at the house was a gun and Gonzalez was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. Alfaro had two outstanding warrants for the delivery of a controlled substance.

All four defendants are now in custody at the Willacy County Jail, according to Sheriff Larry Spence.
