Pastor Leaving

Thank You

The pastor of Bethel United Methodist Church, Reverend Juan Cantu, has been an active member in not only his church, but the community of Willacy County, for the past seven years. This Sunday, June 27th, will be his last worship service at Bethel. Reverend Cantu has been called to serve at La Trinidad U.M.C. in Seguin, Texas, and will begin shepherding the flock there on July 1st. He will be sorely missed by all at Bethel U.M.C., as well as by those in the community that he has helped and come to know. The congregation at Bethel U.M.C., as well as Reverend Cantu, would like to invite the members of our community, our neighbors, to come and worship with us this Sunday at 10 a.m., the last Sunday that we will share with Reverend Cantu as our pastor, in order to bid him farewell with blessings on the next step in his journey of faith.

From the Pastor.

It is with great humility and an honor to have served the people of this wonderful community. First I would like to give thanks to our Heavenly Father for his calling into the ministry and to Jesus Christ for life examples He showed me through the Word. I would like to recall a scripture in the Bible, where Jesus is speaking with His disciples in Matthew 16:13- 16 saying.... “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” ....., He said to them. “But who do you say that I am?”. You see my friends Jesus is the Son of God and He wanted to know what was said about Him, but He also wanted to know what His close friends thought of Him. Jesus was ministering to the homeless, the poor, healing the sick, feeding the hungry... He wanted to make sure that He represented the His Father through His life. I thank God for allowing me to have served this wonderful community for seven years and I pray that the image of me that I leave in your hearts, is because of what God did through me. To Him be the Glory forever and ever Amen. I leave you with this question; If Jesus was concerned about what others thought of Him, do you think it should matter to you what others say or think about you? I pray that it does matter, because you are God’s Children and you are representing Him. God Bless You My Friends, Pastor Juan Cantu Jr.
