Acting judge Guerra asks for concessions from E.ON

Acting county judge Aurelio "Keter" Guerra who along with commissioners negotiated the first Reinvestment Zone in July, 2009, He said the company agreed to grant $442 per megawatt of energy produced to endowments for local projects,scholarships as an example.

Based on a 200 mv facility that amount could come to $88,400 a year.

Following Gonzales remarks, Guerra told E.ON officials.

"You are asking up to expand the RZ. We want to renegotiate the agreement for the expanded area.

McCluskey replied, "As far as community involvement, it is hard for us to put anything in writing.

"There are things that we need in the community and money you could turn loose. I would like to see the committment in writing," said Guerra.

"In order to move forward we want your involvement, such as scholarships."

"We will be willing to negotiate the supplemental in good faith," said McCluskey.

"The sooner we get this agreed to, the better,said Colbert, McCluskey's boss.

"We can do a special meeting just for this," said Guerra.

"Other counties grant abatements, we want to build our tax base. We don't have the luxury (of passing this up) said Pct. 1 Commissioner Eliberto "Beto" Guerra.

Pct. 2 Commissioner Erasmo "Eddie" Chapa made the motion to allow the tax abatements. We are gonna approve it, subject to value added - In good faith," he said.

The motion passed unanimously.
