Lyford C.I.S.D is Continuing the Momentum”
Lyford C.I.S.D Superintendent Eduardo Infante
“We’re blessed with a great group of educators, administrators and support,” said Lyford C.I.S.D Superintendent Edua-rdo Infante in an interview Friday morning.
This past school year, Lyford managed to earn the status of a recognized school district with all three of its schools coming in as recognized and even produce more graduates than Raymondville High School. Though Infante is quite pleased with his students and staff, he assures there is always room for improvement. “You can never be too satisfied,” Infante warned.
This coming school year, Lyford plans to continue to work on the areas they’ve improved on and much more. They want to continue increasing rigor, building capacity, maintaining focus, and remaining student centered. To do so, they are going to keep doing a number of things and add new tasks to their list.
This past school year, Lyford began to conduct what they call “teacher interventions.” In each intervention, a teacher’s job was to focus on helping struggling students. As the interventions were a success, improving the scores and grades of the struggling students, Lyford will continue conducting interventions this upcoming school year. To make the interventions more effective, teachers will receive more training on what is most important to teach, how to teach each lesson, and on improving their collaboration with students.
As society continues to change and become more competitive, we need to prepare our students for the challenges that lay ahead in their post-secondary education, even those at the top of their classes. To do so, Lyford plans on not only helping their struggling students, but challenging their GT students too. Course material in GT/AP classes will require more work from Lyford’s top students, but in the end will reward them with more knowledge and increased ability to handle college courses at every level.
Many have wondered what the secret is to Lyford’s success this past school year. “There is no secret, just hard work, dedication, and tremendous commitment from the students and staff,” Infante stated. With its plans in order and its goals set, Lyford will continue the momentum its gotten started.
