Teen sentenced for shooting arrows at horse

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - A teenager who pleaded guilty to shooting a Fayette County horse with several arrows - including one that lodged in the animal's head - will spend 60 days in jail.

Seventeen-year-old Jeremy Richardson pleaded guilty Thursday. Richardson must serve 60 days in jail, five years on probation and do community service at an animal refuge center.

He had been charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals.

Prosecutors say a horse named Misty was standing near a fence on her owner’s Bankstown Road farm in January when a motorist realized she had several arrows stuck in her.

One arrow went straight though the mare’s neck. Another arrow lodged in her spine and a third came to rest in the side of her head.

The animal is recovering.
