Floodway Full
USUALLY, IT’S A SHORT DRIVE from Santa Monica to Rio Hondo on the other side of the floodway in Cameron County. NOT TODAY, or anytime soon. A wall of water filled the floodway Tuesday evening at the intersections of FM 1420 and FM 1018 (from Sebastian). Dirt was piled high on the levee to prevent water from flooding the small community of Santa Monica. (Photo by Carlos Martinez)
