Santa Monica’s Angel?

Editor,

I would like to take some time to commend a Santa Monica community member. For as long as I can remember there has been a “guardian” of the small town, taking care of the land and the people that make it home. I can remember this man pulling out school buses when they were stuck to ensure all the children could be on their way to get an education. He has helped out families that didn’t have a resting place for their deceased loved ones. He has helped the injured and the sick. He has helped through floods, fires, hurricanes and what is recently causing grief...the rising canals. He is the person that many have been able to turn to for help and almost always get it. He is a bit “rough around the edges” but make no mistake he is proud...proud of his “roots”. Santa Monica has been his home since birth, he is proud of his community and takes pride in protecting everyone and everything it has to offer. Not all have agreed with his ways, but make no doubt he always has one thing in mind, the protection and sanctity of his beloved Santa Monica. With his perseverance and dedication Santa Monica has their own “fire department”, with him as the chief; he has extended his help to many other neighboring communities, towns, cities, and counties.

The man I write to you of is Ernesto G. Garcia. I wanted to extend this thank you, because all too many times I see that it is not extended by the people he tries so hard to protect. Of course, he hasn’t quite done it alone, his wife, family and those he calls friends and volunteers have helped him along the way. Many thanks to those who believe in what he tries to do and has accomplished.

Thanks Chief!!!!

Thanks Dad!!!!! Happy Birthday!

Nannette Garcia
