Local student attends NHI Collegiate World Series

by Amanda Esparza
Raymondville High School senior, Gabrielle Supulver, attended the Collegiate World Series in Boston, Massachusetts, where her team received the highest overall average and won a majority of the games. The competition, sponsored by the National Hispanic Institute, took place from July 29th to August 1st. During the event, 99 student participants from all over the United States and South America participated in a series of games to help increase their knowledge on how to apply to college. In the games, each participant went through the process of being recruited by one of seven different colleges, applying to college, writing an essay, creating a spirit chant, attending an interview with another recruiter, and creating their own commercial about financial aid. Supulver was the only student from Willacy County who participated in the event.
