Expressway crash injures 3.




Two local women and a child were hurt Monday at 10 a.m. in a crash and rollover on Expressway 77 in the northbound lane. Willacy County Sheriff Larry Spence said that the accident happened near Gonzales Ballroom when a Chrysler Town & Country van driven by Maritza Monico of Sebastian swerved to avoid a truck that was entering the expressway. The van struck the rear of a Nissan sedan driven by Elena Reyes of Santa Monica. The van overturned in the grassy field adjoining the expressway. Both women and a child were transported to Valley Baptist Medical Center, Harlingen. The accident was investigated by Dept. of Public Safety Trooper Oscar Gutierrez of the Raymondville office.
